For whatever reason, as of late, writing music for orchestra has become far more of a focus of my work than it had been in the past. Whenever I head out for a walk, it is the sounds of orchestral instruments that I hear – choruses of horns coming out of the sky, whispering of woodwinds in the leaves of the trees, high strings in the wind. The music that springs from that is a necessary antidote, for me, to the increasing fractiousness in our world today. Music intended to invoke thoughts of peace and wonder for the natural world around us.
